Food Storage Labels

I reorganized my food storage.
I added labels so that it looks nice and organized
& for my underlying purpose: hoping it will help my husband know where to put and find items.

So...here they are:

Harry Potter Invites

These invites I didn't originally plan to share.
First of all they are far from perfect.
I threw them together when I realized I needed them immediately in the mail to give my guests time to plan and respond.
But also, and more importantly, they aren't fully my creation.
I took a jpg/picture of Owl Post Mail from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, edited out the name and address.  Then made a back to match.  Also, the background for my "message" side is from a coloring page found: here placed on paper from: kevinandamanda.
(her site and fonts are well worth browsing through as well.)

For the download below, I removed my writing...but the fonts I used were:
Aquiline: for the Names
Civilian: for the Address
The King and Queen Font: for the Party Message

*note: I added a border around each, so that there is room for error when cutting and printing.

Harry Potter Butter Beer Recipe

I found several different Butter Beer recipes, some are as easy as mixing Carmel sauce with cream soda,
but by far this Butter Beer recipe from Hope Studios is the best.
It is made after the Butter Beer at Harry Potter World.
It takes a little more work, creating your own Carmel mixture but it is completely worth it!

*Updated on 6/12*

Harry Potter Butter Beer Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup light or dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons water
6 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
3/4 cup heavy cream, divided
1/2 teaspoon rum extract
Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda (I used cold cream soda)

Directions:
Brown Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan over medium, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 degrees on a candy thermometer.
Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 heavy cream.
Set aside to cool to room temperature.
Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.

Whipped Topping:
In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.

To serve, scoop 1/4 cup of Brown Sugar Syrup into each glass.
Add about 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine.
Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.

*because I had a large group we quadrupled the recipe and used 2 liters instead of individual cans.

Frozen Butter Beer
(variation of recipe)

Make as directed above, but put Butter Beer and Cream Soda Mixture into blender with ice.
Top with whipped cream mixture.

*I purchased large mugs at the Dollar Store, dipped the rims in water then sugar, froze overnight, then attached personal Harry Potter Drink tags found: here.

Harry Potter Polyjuice Potion

Harry Potter Polyjuice Potion Recipe
(Cheesy Mexican Dip)

Ingredients:
1- 16 oz. Velveeta Cheese, cubed
1 or 2* can chili with beans (I use Nalley or Hormel)
1 c Salsa
1 tsp garlic power
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder

*1 or 2 cans of chili, is just preference.  One can makes it a little thinner and cheesier,
while adding a 2nd can makes it more of a bean dip.

Directions:
Cube Velveeta Cheese (you can totally use an off brand). Place all ingredients into sauce pan
on medium heat.  Cook until melted and combined. Stir often. I don't usually bother to
measure the ingredients and just add until taste.

This can also be made in the microwave.  Combine all ingredients in microwave safe bowl.
Mix then cook for 6 minutes, stop and stir every 2 minutes.
Microwaves cooking times may differ, so cook until melted.

Serve with Tortilla Chips.

Rice Krispie Popsicles

I volunteered to make some desserts for a bake sale and found these simple Rice Krispie Popsicles.
They are very fast and inexpensive.
In one normal rice krispie batch I could make approx. 20 bars.

So I made them again for a BBQ.
They were a big hit with the kids and they are easy to serve.  No paper products needed.

Nursery Lamp

I'm in the process of redoing our nursery & it is just about done.
It used to be jungle themed and now...I went with a more neutral approach.
And one of the changes included the lamp.
It was a clearanced lamp from Kirkland Home ($5.00) but it originally was edged in a leopard print.

So with a quick surging & gathering of some scrap fabric, plus of few dots of Fabric Glue...It was fixed.
