Harry Potter Piroshky Draughts

This was by far the biggest food hit of the party.

Harry Potter Piroshky Draughts Recipe

Ingredients
1 ½ c warm water
1 Tbs yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 Tbs sugar
3 ½ c flour
1/2 cube butter
1/2 c green onion, sliced
2 c Cheddar cheese, grated
garlic salt

Directions
Dissolve 1 ½ c warm water, 1 Tbs yeast, 1 tsp sugar. Mix in 1 tsp salt, 1 Tbs sugar, 3 ½ c flour.
Knead till smooth, place in greased bowl, cover with towel for 15 min
While waiting, melt ½ cube of butter on bottom of cookie sheet, in oven.
Roll out dough on floured surface and cut into 4in x 12in strips. Place on buttered pan. Coat both sides in butter. Sprinkle with garlic salt, cheddar cheese, and green onion. Roll up the short side and slice, like mini Cinnamon rolls. Place them 1 inch apart on buttered cookie sheet. Repeat for each strip of dough. Let rise for 15 min. until doubled in size and touching.  Bake at 400’ for 8-12 min.

  1. Hello! I am having a Harry Potter party sometime in the near future and am absolutely IN LOVE with your ideas! You are brilliant! I was wondering if you knew about how much all of this cost you? I don't want to spend a fortune and was curious if you had a price estimate. Thank you so much!

    1. Alex-

Every time I try to reply to your comment I get an error. So I am hoping I don’t end up with several repeated relies.

But first of all, thank you for your comment! And for your question about the cost of the Harry Potter Party...I actually threw two Harry Potter Parties. Your comment is from the Piroshky Daught Recipe I used in the first Harry Potter Party:
      http://www.justsweetandsimple.blogspot.com/2011/07/harry-potter-party.html
but I did also have a Harry Potter Mystery Dinner Party:
      http://www.justsweetandsimple.blogspot.com/2012/11/harry-potter-mystery-dinner-party.html

And they all are linked together. So it could be a bit confusing. I am going to assume you are asking about our first Harry Potter Party, but if not, let me know and I can tell you the price estimates for the Mystery Dinner Party Instead.

Okay, about the cost. Most of this party was thrown together with things I had. The decorations, books, candles, fake fruit, etc were all collected from around my house. I did make some signs and labels on the computer and printed them out. The printables are found in the links above. I tried keeping every thing low budget. I glued the banners and posters on to wrinkled brown paper bags and used some scrapbook paper I had on hand, etc. Even lots of the food was made with ingredients I had on hand. You can totally change what I made and use the food labels for your own type of Chips and Dips, etc.

But for the things I did buy:
-Golden Snitch Wrappers: $3 at Walmart (I had tons left over)
-Large Glass Mugs (14): $14 at the Dollar Tree
-Tall white candles (5): $2.50 at Walmart
-Paper Products (napkins, small plates, plastic cups): $4 at the Dollar Tree
-Food & Drinks: about $60 (if you don’t count sugar, flour, and those basic staples)
**Many of the food ingredients (chocolate chips, pie filling, cheese, beans, chips, etc) I had on hand so I spent less than $30 instead of $60.
And again, you can change out the recipes to things you have. Or have guests bring food items....to cut the costs.

I hope this helps give you an idea for the cost and Good Luck with your party!
