Spring Flower Sugar Cookies

These are my all time favorite cookies.
They are easy and look cute.
Also, this recipe I always get compliments on.

Sugar Cookies

2 c sugar
1 c shortening
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
6 tbsp milk
5 c flour
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder

Cream Sugar and Shortening. Then blend in eggs and vanilla. In separate bowl mix remaining dry ingredients. Then mix in the milk and dry ingredient combination, by alternating milk, then dry ingredients back and forth, ending on the dry. Chill for 1 hr minimum. Roll our 1/4 inch thick, cut, and cook on parchment paper lined cookie tray. 8-10 min. at 350 F, they should be light, if edges start to golden, then the cookies come out on the crisp side. (I find 10 min is perfect in my oven.)

Frosting

1/3 c soft butter
3-4 c powdered sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
3 tbsp milk
Food Coloring

Mix butter, vanilla, and almond extract together.
Add sugar and milk alternating...until desired consistency.
Separate and add food coloring to desired colors.
* The frosting is what makes this recipe.

To Make Flowers:

Large Marshmallows
Scissors
Ziploc
Frosting

Frost cooled cookies, in desired color.
Cut off circles of Marshmallow with scissors. This will create a pinched petal.
Place 5-6 petals on frosted cookie.
Fill a small Ziploc bag with alternating color of frosting. Clip the corner to create a small hole
and pipe a large bead of frosting in the middle of the petals.
